Our Services
The Regional Care Center in Sugar Land treats all types of cancer. We offer many of the same patient services as the main campus, with more being added every day. We want to assure patients that they are getting the same world-class standard of care in a comforting community setting.
While the Sugar Land Regional Care Center treats all cancer types, the faculty at our campus has particular expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and management of certain cancers:
Diagnostic Services
The Regional Care Center in Sugar Land offers complete suspicion of cancer and second opinion pathology services. If you have a lump or other troubling symptoms, we can let you know whether or not it is cancer and provide the right treatment for your condition, no matter what the diagnosis.
Treatment Support Services
Outpatient chemotherapy: services are provided in comfortable treatment suites with easy access to the clinic and free parking.
Clinical trials: As a pioneer in cancer research, MD Anderson offers access to hundreds of clinical trials, many of which are available exclusively at MD Anderson.
Pain management: Up to 75% of cancer patients will experience pain at some point during or after their treatment. Managing cancer-related pain close to home means a quicker return to normal life.
Laboratory services: Our pathologists perform regular blood work for chemotherapy patients and diagnostic blood work for those with a suspicion of cancer. Lab services are available at all regional care centers for all MD Anderson patients, regardless of their treatment location.
Nurse Navigator: Every breast cancer patient will receive personalized support from a nurse navigator. These specially trained RNs can coordinate all aspects of patient care, work with community physicians and provide education and emotional support every step of the way.
Patient Support
At MD Anderson, we know that the cancer experience includes more than just treating the disease. The Regional Care Center in Sugar Land offers a range of support services to help all of our patients achieve maximum quality of life both during and after cancer treatment.
New patient navigation team: Our caring staff wants to make your experience the best it can be. Patient specialists can help with coordinating paperwork, appointment scheduling, patient education and communicating with your family physician.
Physical therapy: Therapists can help patients regain physical function and mobility both during and after cancer treatment.
Lymphedema therapy: Patients with lymphedema will receive specialized therapy and self-help education to manage their condition.
Nutritional support: Maintaining a proper diet during cancer treatment is essential for a successful outcome. Professional dieticians provide nutrition assessment and education for all patients.
Psychosocial support: Cancer patients need to know they are not alone in their fight. A social worker is available for counseling, access to support groups and links to support resources in your community.
