Medulloblastoma Risk Factors

Medulloblastoma Screening

Cancer screening exams are important medical tests done when you’re at risk but don’t have symptoms. They help find cancer at its earliest stage, when the chances for successful treatment are highest.

Unfortunately, no standardized screening tests have been shown to improve medulloblastoma outcomes.

Medulloblastoma Risk Factors

Anything that increases your child’s chance of developing medulloblastoma is a risk factor. Although the cause of medulloblastoma is not known, certain things may make children more at risk.

  • Age: Children younger than 16, particularly girls, have higher risk of developing medulloblastoma.
  • Genetic conditions, including:
    • Li-Fraumeni syndrome
    • Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome (Gorlin syndrome)

If your child has been diagnosed with medulloblastoma, it is important to be seen by expert doctors. We can help. Call 1-877-632-6789 to make an appointment or request an appointment online.
