Aspiring Physician Assistants

PA at work

The Physician Assistant profession is an excellent career for highly motivated individuals interested in providing care for patients, including those with cancer.  While MD Anderson does not offer a shadowing program for aspiring Physician Assistants, we provide the following opportunities to college students to learn about Physician Assistants practice and education in the Physician Assistants office.

College Student Volunteers

Students can volunteer in the Physician Assistants office. Volunteers commit to work 4 hours per week for a semester. Volunteers may be asked to help with a variety of office tasks including those involved in Physician Assistants staff and trainee education.

For more information, visit the Volunteer Services website

College Research Students

This is a part-time research experience within the Physician Assistants education office. Students may participate in projects related to Physician Assistants student, fellowship and staff education.  Students must apply in advance for the semester. This is a competitive appointment.

For information, contact the Physician Assistants office at paponc@mdanderson.org
