Visiting Physicians
The Department of Pain Medicine has various opportunities for physicians to rotate through the Pain Service. Before applying for any of these positions, you must contact Trisha Rendon to let her know of your intent to rotate.

Visitors
A Visitor is classified as any physician interested in pain management that rotates with the Section of Cancer Pain Management for less than 30 days. Visitors attend lectures, observe clinics and the operating room and round in the hospital in accordance with MD Anderson’s medical staff policy. Visitors are not permitted to administer treatment, render services to patients, participate in decisions concerning patients, write orders in patients’ charts or give orders verbally. No stipend is provided. Housing, health insurance and maintenance are the responsibility of the Visitor.
Observers
An Observer is any physician interested in pain management that plans on rotating with the Department of Pain Medicine for more than 30 days not to exceed one year. Observers attend lectures, observe clinics and the operating room and round in the hospital in accordance with MD Anderson’s medical staff policy. Observers are not permitted to administer treatment, render services to patients, participate in decisions concerning patients, write orders in patients’ charts or give orders verbally. No stipend is provided. Housing, health insurance and maintenance are the responsibility of the Observer.
Residents & Fellows
Residents and Fellows that would like to rotate with the Section of Cancer Pain Management must apply at least 120 days in advance of the desired rotation start date. In addition, a letter of recommendation dated no more than one year prior to the application date from the clinical training program director of the parent program that includes a statement regarding the professional liability insurance coverage provided by the parent institution for the elective rotation. Additional documentation will be required to meet visa and postgraduate resident permit application requirements.
