Magnet Recognition

We Did It Again!

ANCC Magnet Recognition (green, gold logo)The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center received notification of Magnet Redesignation in February 2006 from the Magnet Recognition Program of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). The award recognizes nursing excellence throughout the institution.

Preparation for redesignation began in January 2005 and involved more than 200 nurses serving as the Magnet Core Team and Magnet Champions. Numerous nurses and interdisciplinary partners participated in the three-day Magnet site visit.

Each year, interim reports are prepared for ANCC that verify continued nursing excellence and innovation. Congratulations to all Anderson nurses and their interdisciplinary partners.

Our nurses are recognized, rewarded, respected and supported for their clinical practice excellence. We create and sustain an environment where nurses grow professionally, control their oncology nursing practice and participate in all levels of the organization.

Our community colleagues within and outside M. D. Anderson Cancer Center are our partners. Through collaboration, we maximize our contributions to our patients, their families, professional organizations and community.
