There are many ways you can help advance these endocrine research initiatives:
- Clinical trials for endocrine tumors
- Development of targeted therapies for thyroid cancers
- Development of treatment options for diabetes in patients with cancer
- Creation of shared tumor bank to support multidisciplinary programs
Endocrine Tumor Research
While tumors of the endocrine glands, including the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and pituitary glands may be rare, their optimal treatment requires the same meticulous diagnosis and therapy regimens as more common tumors. The most common type of endocrine cancer, thyroid carcinoma, is one of the few types of cancer that has increased in number in the United States in the last 50 years. While millions of federal research dollars has been granted for research into treating many different types of cancers, virtually no funding has been granted for clinical research into endocrine malignancies, especially thyroid cancer.
We are continually studying new, safer and more effective treatment options for all types of endocrine cancers in order to improve the chances for long, healthy and recurrence-free lives for all of our patients and survivors.
You can make a huge difference in the lives of those with endocrine tumors and hormonal disorders by donating to our endocrine research funds. New discoveries made for endocrine malignancies can be applied to other types of cancers.
