Abstract Guidelines

  • If you wish to present, it is required to submit an abstract
  • If you do not wish to present, do not submit an abstract. All that is needed is a statement of interest

Conference Admission Qualifications

The purpose of this conference is to promote a high-level exchange of ideas among scientists whose research contributions and interests will impact their respective fields. We encourage an open application process, admitting scientifically qualified attendees whose accomplishments and commitment to their research in this field will benefit all participants. The conference will be limited to 200 attendees.

Your online conference application can be submitted starting September 1, 2011. The application and abstract deadline is Thursday, November 10, 2011.

Short Talks

If you would like to be considered for a short talk, it is required to submit an abstract.

Everyone who submits an abstract will be considered for a poster presentation. According to their scientific novelty and the program needs, some of the abstracts will be considered for short talks in the plenary session .

Please follow the guidelines below:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc)
  • Times New Roman, 12 point
  • One page space limitation
  • List the authors’ names and affiliations under the title, and underline the name of the presenter.
  • Save the abstract as LastFirst.doc or LastFirst.rtf, where Last is your last name and First is your first name. For example, if your name is John Smith then name the abstract file SmithJohn.doc

Deadline for Withdrawing Abstracts: November 17, 2011

Requests to withdraw an abstract need to be received in writing via email to: aheaton@mdanderson.org

Notification of Acceptance for a Poster or Short Talk

Poster presenters selected from submitted abstracts will be notified no later than Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Selection of short talks and poster presentations will be made by the organizing committee. 

Accepted abstracts for short talks will be notified after the abstract deadline, November 10, 2011, and the abstracts will be published in the program book.

Poster Presentation Guidelines

The Poster Session will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, and Friday, February 10, 2012, from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

  • Posters will be numbered and abstracts will be published in the program book. You will receive your assigned number on the day of your presentation at the registration table.
  • The upper right hand corner of the poster board provided by conference services will contain a number corresponding to your abstract number in the program book.
  • The poster board assigned to each presenter has a usable area of 3' 6" (106.7 cm) in height and 7' 6" (228.6 cm) in width. The board itself is 4' (121.9 cm) in height by 8' (243.8 cm) in width. An English-to-metric conversion table is provided below:

        3' = 91.4 cm

        3' 6" = 106.7 cm

        4' = 121.9 cm

        6' = 182.9 cm

        7' 6" = 228.6 cm

        8' = 243.8 cm

  • Members of our staff will be available to assist you, to provide pushpins and to answer any questions that might arise
  • The display area for the poster presentation is located in the Cancer Prevention Building (CPB), Conference Center, 1155 Pressler Street, Floor 8
