Abstract and Poster Guidelines
Each applicant who submits an abstract will be considered for a poster presentation. According to their scientific novelty and program needs, some of the abstracts will be considered for short talks.
Abstract Submission Deadline: September 24, 2012
Deadline for Withdrawing Abstracts: September 30, 2012
Poster and Short Talk Notification Deadline: September 27, 2012
Your abstract will be reviewed and you will be notified regarding acceptance. An email will be sent to the presenter only (i.e., co-authors will not be notified).
How to Prepare Your Abstract File
Please follow the guidelines below:
- Microsoft Word (.doc) or Rich Text Format (.rtf) file
- Times New Roman, 12 point
- One page space limitation
- 1-inch margins (top, bottom, left, right)
- Left-justify all text
- Single-space all text
- List the authors’ names and affiliations under the title, and underline the name of the presenter
- Save the abstract as LastFirst.doc or LastFirst.rtf, where "Last" is the last name of the presenter and "First" is the first name of the presenter. For example, if your name is John Smith then name the abstract file "SmithJohn.doc"
Submitting an Abstract
Submit your abstract to Amy Heaton, Project Director, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, via email at aheaton@mdanderson.org
Please include your professional title.

Poster Presentation Guidelines
The Poster Session will be on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 5:15-6:15 pm.
You can display your poster upon arrival at the conference on Friday, November 9, 2012, and remove it no later than 3:00 pm on November 10, 2012.
You will receive your assigned number at the registration table.
The upper right hand corner of the poster board provided by conference services will contain a number corresponding to your abstract number in the online program book.
The poster board assigned to each presenter has a usable area of 3' 6" (106.7 cm) in height and 7' 6" (228.6 cm) in width. The board itself is 4' (121.9 cm) in height by 8' (243.8 cm) in width. An English-to-metric conversion table is provided below:
3' = 91.4 cm
3' 6" = 106.7 cm
4' = 121.9 cm
6' = 182.9 cm
7' 6" = 228.6 cm
8' = 243.8 cm
Members of our staff will be available to assist you, to provide pushpins and to answer any questions that might arise.
The display area for the poster presentation is located in the Cancer Prevention Building (CPB), Conference Center, 1155 Pressler Street, Floor 8
