Your Health is Calling
Did you know that excess body fat can increase a cancer survivor’s risk of developing secondary cancers and other diseases like diabetes, heart disease and arthritis? Are you interested in one-on-one health coaching for guidance on healthy eating and becoming more physically active?
Your Health is Calling, a telehealth weight management program, can help cancer survivors lose weight through healthy lifestyle changes. Participants enrolled in the program will receive tailored health coaching sessions focused on evidence-based behavioral weight loss strategies. The six-month program consists of 16 one-on-one sessions, each providing health education on nutrition and physical activity, support to build healthy habits and overcome real life challenges and sustainable tips to meet their goals. Topics also include other important factors that can affect dietary habits such as sleep, hunger cues and stress.
You could be eligible to participate in MD Anderson’s free telehealth weight management program, Your Health is Calling. The program is proven to help people lose weight and improve diet and physical activity.
Cancer is traumatic, and having someone to coach you is very helpful. This program would be great for any cancer patient.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to participate in Your Health is Calling, participants must:
- Be a cancer survivor with a BMI greater than or equal to 25 and have completed primary treatment
- Have access to a telephone or the internet for weight management coaching sessions
Note: Some participants may need a medical release from their physician.

What Participants Receive
Participants will receive:
- Our six-month, 16-session weight management program to guide you on making modest changes to diet and exercise based on healthy lifestyle recommendations
- A fitness tracking device to begin tracking your physical activity
- Access to a weight management support line with a trained health coach
- Tailored educational resources and materials on nutrition and physical activity
A trained health coach will help you:
- Lower your risk of chronic diseases by achieving healthy weight loss
- Set physical activity and weight management goals for a healthier lifestyle
- Learn the health benefits of being physically active and making healthy food choices

There is no cost to participate in Your Health is Calling. It is a free program, and materials are all free of charge.
I had bariatric surgery. Am I eligible to enroll in the program?
Yes, the program is open to bariatric surgery patients. Your Health is Calling provides access to weight management support that includes coaching to guide you on making modest changes to diet and exercise.
I am currently on a weight loss medication. Am I eligible to enroll in the program?
Yes, participants of Your Health is Calling set physical activity and weight management goals for a healthier lifestyle, which work well with weight loss medications. We encourage participants to keep their doctors aware of their participation and progress in the program.
