The Alice Judkins Excellence Award for Advanced Care Practitioners in the Department of Surgical Oncology is named after the late Alice Judkins, a nurse whose career at MD Anderson spanned more than 20 years. The endowment’s donor was so impressed with Alice’s compassion and dedication that she chose to honor her through the endowment’s name.
The award goes to an advanced practice nurse and a physician assistant who excel in their roles as mid-level providers. Following a stringent nomination and selection process, awardees receive $2,500 towards professional development projects that enhance patient care while contributing to the educational and research efforts of the department. The awards are presented at an event attended annually by Alice Judkins herself until her passing in 2015.
