Overview
The Institutional Tissue Bank (ITB) at UT MD Anderson is a College of American Pathologists (CAP)-accredited and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA)-certified research biospecimen repository, developed for the purpose of collection, processing, storage and distribution of patient tissue samples, fluids, and related clinical data across UT MD Anderson to research investigators and beyond on behalf of the institutional protocols. Go to the About page to learn more about the ITB.
Getting Started
Step 1: Register with Institutional Tissue Bank by submitting a request for registration form.
Step 2: Set up initial consultation by email or telephone from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Step 3: ITB accepts services requests via UT MD Anderson Biospecimen Information Management System (BIMS) at: https://biobank.mdanderson.edu/
For more instructions on how to request samples and use BIMS, see the Resources page.
Impact
The focus of the Institutional Tissue Bank is to provide efficient and cost-effective biospecimen services to investigators and help their teams save time and funds that then can be applied to further aspects of their projects.
Acknowledgment
Please use the following text when acknowledging the ITB:
“Data were generated in part through the use of the Institutional Tissue Bank (ITB) [and list other Cancer Center Support Grant shared resources if used], which receives partial support from the National Cancer Institute under grant P30CA016672 to UT MD Anderson.
