A dedicated team of experts, subspecialists, pathologists and hematopathologists provide a level of care not offered by other leukemia programs or cancer hospitals. We're one of the most active programs in the world, so we have a deeper level of expertise across all subtypes of leukemia – even the most rare types – which makes all the difference in our patients' outcomes.
When a leukemia patient comes to MD Anderson, we provide extensive testing that goes beyond what others do. Our detailed workups include an evaluation of each patient's risk factors and the specific characteristics of their type of leukemia to ensure that they receive the most accurate, complete diagnosis. In fact, we correct and/or refine the diagnoses of as many as 15% of leukemia patients who come to MD Anderson. Starting with this evaluation, our specialists closely collaborate to determine the most effective therapy for each patient.

Our Blood Bank offers a powerful resource in fighting blood-based cancers, ensuring an adequate blood supply for our patients. And our Texas Medical Center location offers same-day transfusions for our patients.
