Allocations

The Science Park Flow Cytometry and Cell Imaging Core (FCCIC) was established with a $3.6M Core Facility Grant from CPRIT to provide a resource for researchers in Central Texas. The CPRIT Core Facility Support Award allocates ~$100K to provide allotments for qualified FCCIC User Group Member projects. Members of the FCCIC User Group may compete for these monetary allotments  (up to $5,000, annually, or up to $10,000 for especially meritorious applications from junior faculty) for use in the Core for their cancer research projects, to offset the costs of using our  flow cytometry and cell imaging services.

In order to receive a Flow Cytometry and Cell Imaging allotment, you must complete an application. Applications are vetted by the FCCIC Core Program Director (E. Richie) with input from the Cell Imaging director (C. Jeter) and then approved by the FCCIC Oversight Committee: S. Dent, M. Bedford, B. Bartholomew, and F. Cole at MD Anderson; Tanya Paull at UT Austin; and Nancy Manley at the University of Georgia. Please note that if an allotment is not used in a timely manner, any awarded funds may be reallocated to support other needs.

The 2-page application will require the following:

• An abstract (limited to 250 words) describing the scientific rationale for your current Project and its relation to cancer research. The FCCIC CPRIT Core Facility grant stipulates that cancer-related projects will be given first preference.
• A section describing the experimental design, including the types of FCCIC services required. Please briefly describe the entire project, not just the portion associated with your allotment request.
• A list of funding sources (if any) for the project.

Mandatory requirements of award acceptance are: 1) acknowledgement of the FCCIC Core and FCCIC CPRIT grant (RP170628) in all submitted manuscripts and publications utilizing FCCIC resources and services; and 2) submission of an annual Progress Report updating outcome and productivity of FCCIC-related research, including a summary of findings and a PDF of associated figures/tables derived from publications and submitted manuscripts utilizing FCCIC Services.

Note:  Please feel free to consult with the FCCIC Core Staff regarding experimental design, service needs, and  cost estimates. Investigators with costs exceeding the awarded allotment  are required to pay for the balance from an alternative funding source.
