Research efforts in the laboratory of Mian Alauddin, Ph.D. focus on the development of PET probes for non-invasive in vivo molecular imaging of early stage cancer and therapy evaluation as well as radiolabeling of monoclonal antibodies and peptides for cancer diagnosis and therapy.
His area of specialization includes the synthesis and radiosynthesis of small organic molecules, which are substrates for specific target such as enzymes or receptors over expressing in cancer cells. In addition, biological evaluation of the newly developed PET probes in vitro in cell culture and in vivo in small and large animals for preclinical evaluation are also part of the research interest.
Development of radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies and peptides using radiometal for cancer diagnosis and therapy, and monitoring therapy outcome are of special interest.
