Alexander V. Prokhorov, M.D., Ph.D., the program’s director, has led the charge in promoting tobacco control globally with TOEP. As the program continues to expand its reach, it now offers continuing medical education (CME) materials related to ethics and professional responsibility. These materials are being offered to Texas physicians and other health care providers at no cost.
The Tobacco & Nicotine Counseling for Adults and Adolescents course was designed to help healthcare professionals counsel their adolescent and adult patients on emerging tobacco trends, the benefits of smoking prevention and cessation and to provide exceptional evidence-based treatments for tobacco dependence.
At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify appropriate pharmacological options for tobacco/nicotine cessation.
- Counsel patients to enhance their motivation to quit smoking.
- Counsel patients to reduce susceptibility to begin using tobacco/nicotine and nicotine products.
