Museum District

The Houston Museum District is home to sixteen institutions, offering a range of museums, galleries, and art and cultural centers.

• The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston is the largest art museum in America south of Chicago, west of Washington, D.C., and east of Los Angeles. Included in its extensive permanent collection are pieces by Renoir, Monet, Picasso, Georgia O’Keefe, Matisse and Rodin.
• The Houston Museum of Natural Science is a five-venue complex dedicated to the knowledge of natural science. It is home to the Cockrell Butterfly Center, Burke Baker Planetarium and the Wortham IMAX® Theatre.
• The Holocaust Museum Houston serves as a memorial to those who were killed or imprisoned in concentration camps during World War II.
