Educational Information
Goal
The goals of this educational workshop in LDR and HDR brachytherapy are to improve education and training of LDR and HDR brachytherapy, to facilitate a more rapid transition from education to practice implementation, tonsure high quality brachytherapy delivery and to communicate the value of brachytherapy. The vision of this workshop, jointly provided by MD Anderson and American Brachytherapy Society (ABS), is to increase patient access to high quality brachytherapy for cancer treatment by providing training to the physicians and physicists who perform the procedures.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be familiar with the following as they pertain to the current status of permanent prostate brachytherapy: clinical management for favorable and unfavorable disease, MRI‐assisted radiosurgery for HDR and LDR brachytherapy, patient access to treatment, managing side effects of prostate brachytherapy and building a quality brachytherapy program.
Educational Objectives
After attending this conference, participants should be able to:
- Select which patients with prostate or gynecologic cancer will benefit from brachytherapy treatment (Knowledge);
- Identify pelvic anatomy on MRI and US & how to contour the pelvic treatment area & surrounding adjacent organs at risk (Knowledge, Competence, Performance);
- Implement the techniques used for prostate and gynecologic brachytherapy treatment planning (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes) and;
- Discern what defines a quality brachytherapy implant based on the pre‐treatment planning and postimplant dosimetry (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes).

Evaluation
A course evaluation form will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics.
Accreditation/Credit Designation Information
Note: Only the Prostate and GYN Didactic Sessions (Friday and Saturday) have been awarded CME credit. The Prostate Hands-on Workshop does not carry CME credit.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center designates live activity for a maximum of 17.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
PHYSICISTS
Course is pending approval by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physicists Education Programs (CAMPEP) of Category A continuing education credits.
SAMs
Lectures on the program have been submitted for review and approval by the American Board of Radiology to meet the criteria for self‐assessment toward the purpose of fulfilling requirements in the ABR Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.

The Prostate Brachytherapy Hands‐on workshop of the conference opens at 7:00 am on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at MD Anderson, Mid Campus Building, Simulation Center, Floor 2, 7007 Bertner Avenue, Houston, Texas following the Friday Prostate Didactic Session. The workshop will begin at 8:00 am on Saturday, December 1, 2018 and adjourn at 12:00 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

Only a limited number of team registrations (physician, physicist and/or dosimetrist – maximum of three team members) will be available to attend the Prostate Didactic Session on Friday, November 30, 2018 and Prostate LDR/HDR Hands‐on Workshop on Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2, 2018. Selection is based on first‐come, first‐served basis.
To register as a team, register one of the team members as the primary contact and the other members under the “Additional Information” field; please include full name and email address of other team member(s).

The conference registration fee includes the tuition, final program pages, breakfasts, lunches, breaks, and welcome reception.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
The registration fee, minus a $50 administrative handling fee, is refundable if a written request is received on or before Friday, November 2, 2018. No refunds will be granted after that date. The request for a registration refund must include the tax identification number of the company or institution if registration was paid by a company or institution check. The Department of CME/Conference Management reserves the right to cancel activities prior to the scheduled date, if low enrollment or other circumstances make it necessary. Each registrant will be notified by mail, e‐mail, or at the phone or fax numbers given on the registration form.
In case of activity cancellation, the liability of the Department of CME/Conference Management is limited to the registration fee. CME/Conference Management will refund the full registration fee.

Parking Information - Parking for Mid Campus 1 Building is available in the garage adjacent to the building at 1400 S. Braeswood Houston, TX 77030. Push the button at the entry to receive a ticket.
