Our most complex problems require solutions that are multi-disciplinary. Global Academic Programs (GAP) is building research relationships between faculty at MD Anderson and our Sister Institutions, and was the first to introduce and deploy Elsevier's Influuent tool to make it easier for investigators to locate people with shared interests. Influuent compiles a researcher’s government grants and peer-reviewed publications and generates a searchable, public profile. Researchers seeking collaborators can filter the database by research concept to locate researchers with matching interests. Use Influuent to discover experts and networks at MD Anderson, from some of GAP's Sister Institutions and now, search throughout the University of Texas System to connect with experts in becoming part of your team. View the Influuent video introduction.
A complementary tool to the Experts profiles is SciVal Funding, which identifies suitable funding opportunities based on your track record, as well as current ideas, and alerts you to it. This tool is available only behind the MD Anderson firewall, and is open to anyone working at MD Anderson, regardless of whether or not they have an Influuent profile. Access SciVal Funding at www.funding.scival.com and create a profile to sign up. Connect your Scopus profile to the Funding tool, add new projects and research concepts you are working on and are excited about, which may not yet be reflected in your publications, and set your preferences on how often you wish to be notified of opportunities.
These tools are now managed by the Academic Affairs department. If you would like to learn more about either Influuent or SciVal Funding or to schedule a demonstration in your department, please contact JRHerskovic@mdanderson.org.
