Development of the Assessment Plan
A comprehensive assessment plan was developed to provide valuable data to measure the impact of the QEP on curriculum design (curriculum inventory, portfolio assessment, faculty resource center satisfaction survey), instructional delivery (instructional observation, pre- and post-faculty development session evaluations, faculty development session evaluation survey), student application (student research project rubric) and student learning outcomes (standardized assessment-CAT exam). The plan included both quantitative and qualitative measures for student learning outcomes and faculty outcomes, an implementation process and time frame, a systematic way for collecting and analyzing the results, and a process for reporting and discussing the results on an annual basis.
The QEP assessment plan includes nine measures. Assessment instruments were identified and prepared for use and include the following:

The QEP Assessment Plan
The QEP assessment plan followed a process improvement model that measures the successful implementation of each of the components of the QEP framework “THINK” as they related to the identified QEP outcomes. Assessment included both quantitative and qualitative measures. Because the plan was designed to introduce critical thinking skills incrementally, the assessment strategies were designed to measure new growth and sustained activity for each implementation year.
