The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and Development provides resources to support your mentoring and training of postdoctoral fellows at MD Anderson.
We are available to help you recruit exceptional talent to your research group.
We are happy to schedule time to answer any questions your potential postdoc may have. Please contact us in advance of the interview day to schedule time to meet with your prospective candidate.
We recruit at AACR’s Career Fair and during the AACR Annual Meeting in the Exhibit Hall.
We offer a special orientation (quarterly, 5 hours of content) to introduce your postdoctoral fellow to MD Anderson and TMC resources that will enhance their postdoctoral training experience, increase their productivity, and facilitate professional and career growth. More information can be found here.
Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive. This orientation provides an introduction to resources at MD Anderson, such as the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and Development, our Research Medical Library, Scientific Publications, the Office of Sponsored Programs, the Core Facilities, and much more.
Postdoc Fellows do not attend the traditional employee orientation and this provides them with the resources to accelerate their training and productivity.
An Individual Development Plan (IDP) is the cornerstone of a successful
training experience and is now required by NIH for all granting mechanisms. We have developed two recommended documents for use to maximize the postdoc experience including (a) an Initial Training Plan and (b) an Annual Appraisal.
The goals of these documents are to facilitate conversation between the trainee and the mentor, by assessing the needs of both, enumerating short- and long- term goals and identifying the professional development resources required to facilitate achievement.
Responsible Conduct of Research We offer a monthly seminar series that meets the NIH requirements of 8 contact hours in responsible conduct of research training.
Trainee Research Day is an annual event sponsored by the MD Anderson Alumni & Faculty Association to recognize and exhibit the research of our educational trainees. It is scheduled for May 3, 2017 and more information is available by contacting us.
