The MD Anderson Alumni & Faculty Association hosts a number of events over the course of the year.
Since 1984, the MD Anderson Alumni & Faculty Association Steering Committee has been charged with nominating the recipients of the annual Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Mike Hogg Award.
The Alumni & Faculty Association also hosts an annual reception at the AACR Annual Meeting each spring for alumni, colleagues, faculty and trainees.
Postdocs, Residents Present Work at Trainee Research Day
MD Anderson postdoctoral fellows and graduate medical education fellows and residents took part in the institution's annual Trainee Research Day 2017 on May 3. Trainees presented their research focusing on the basic sciences and on clinic, population and translational science. Endowed fellowships were awarded to fellows nominated by faculty members. The MD Anderson Alumni & Faculty Association and the Division of Academic Affairs sponsor the event.

2017 Mike Hogg Award Honors Kornberg
The 2017 Mike Hogg Award & Lecture, which took place March 24, honored Roger D. Kornberg, Ph.D. Kornberg presented on "The Molecular Basis of Eukaryotic Transcription."
Kornberg is a Nobel laureate, the Winzer Professor in Medicine and professor of structural biology at Stanford University. Kornberg’s research focuses on the mechanism and regulation of eukaryotic gene transcription.
Kornberg is the son of the inaugural recipient of the Mike Hogg Award, Arthur Kornberg, M.D., who was awarded in 1959. The Kornbergs are one of only six father-son pairs of Nobel laureates in the world.
