The MD Anderson Alumni & Faculty Association hosts a number of events over the course of the year.
Since 1984, the MD Anderson Alumni & Faculty Association Steering Committee has been charged with nominating the recipients of the annual Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Mike Hogg Award.
The Alumni & Faculty Association also hosts an annual reception at the AACR Annual Meeting each spring for alumni, colleagues, faculty and trainees.
The 2017 Mike Hogg Award & Lecture will honor Roger D. Kornberg, Ph.D. Kornberg will present on "The Molecular Basis of Eukaryotic Transcription." The event will take place Friday, March 24, 2017; 2-3 p.m.; in Hickey Auditorium (R11.1400; Main Building, Floor 11, Elevator B). A reception will follow the lecture.
Kornberg is the 2006 Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry, the Winzer Professor in Medicine and professor of structural biology at Stanford University. Son of the inaugural recipient of the Mike Hogg Award, Arthur Kornberg, M.D., who was awarded in 1959, Roger Kornberg, along with father, are among only six father-son pairs of Nobel laureautes.
