UPDATE – VIRTUAL RACE: The 15th Annual SCOPE Run at MD Anderson has been cancelled as part of MD Anderson’s proactive measures to prevent the introduction or spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This event will be hosted as a virtual 5K instead. See details below.
MD Anderson’s Sprint for Colorectal Oncology Prevention and Education (SCOPE) program is an annual event that raises funds for colorectal cancer awareness. Its signature event is an annual 5K run in March to recognize colorectal cancer awareness month. Register now to participate in our 15th annual SCOPE run, which will be held as a virtual 5K.
What’s a virtual 5K?
- While the SCOPE 5K has been cancelled, you can still raise funds for colorectal cancer awareness. Please note that packet pick-up at Momentum Indoor Climbing has been cancelled. Packets will be mailed to registered participants.
- On Saturday, March 28, participants can join the virtual 5K by posting photos of themselves wearing their SCOPE T-shirt to social media. Be sure to read our Community Guidelines first. Information and photos posted on social media is not “protected health information” and is not protected by U.S. health privacy laws. Before posting about someone else, get that person’s permission and ensure accuracy of information.
- Participants may use hashtag #endcancer in their posts or tag MD Anderson’s social media accounts.
Since 2005, the SCOPE 5K has helped support colorectal cancer awareness, education and outreach efforts. You can participate in the event by supporting an individual or team, or by fundraising through a team goal.
You also can support the endeavors of SCOPE by contributing directly through the MD Anderson Development Office. Offline donations through the Development Office will allow 100% of your contribution to go directly to SCOPE to support grants which further colorectal education.
A tax acknowledgement will be issued by MD Anderson for contributions of $25 or more. Donations are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Due to our response to COVID-19, all blood donations at MD Anderson
