The University of Texas at Houston Police Department (UT Police) provides law enforcement and community services to the M. D. M. D. Anderson Cancer Center - a premier care center devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.  In July 2007, US News and World Report ranked M. D. Anderson Cancer Center as the number one hospital for cancer care.

During 2007, 84,969 persons with cancer received patient care at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.  Over 11,000 patients participated in clinical research.  More than 4,000 students continue to take part in educational programs working with physicians, scientists, nurses and other health care professionals.

UT Health Science Center at Houston - a graduate education university, celebrating 35 years of excellence, focusing on the health sciences. The UT Health Science Center at Houston includes the Dental Branch, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Medical School, School of Public Health, School of Nursing, School of Health Information Sciences, UT Harris County Psychiatric Center and the Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Disease.

The UT Police work within a dynamic community and average over 355,000 calls for service annually.  The UT Police maintain a proactive approach with the community to provide a safe environment for all patients, visitors, students, employees and staff.  We were the first university police agency in Texas to be fully accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Inc.

As an integral part of the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and the UT Health Science Center at Houston, we align with the visions of both institutions.  The UT Police Mission and Vision Alignment document outlines the collaborative partnerships we maintain to help ensure a safe, secure and orderly environment.  Click Mission and Vision Alignment for more information.
