Pretty SAVVY!!!

Volunteer Voice - Fall 2007

Rae Gerson is “SAVVY” about the TLC she shows to
patients and their families.

Rae Gerson, Jewish chaplaincy volunteer, is one of four community volunteers selected to receive the 35th Annual SAVVY Award.

The award is presented by Macy’s and the Houston Chronicle to honor outstanding individuals who have made a significant impact in our community through volunteerism and public service.
Known by “her” M. D. Anderson patients as the Mandel bread lady for the special cookies she makes, Gerson takes volunteering well beyond the usual level, and she often establishes ongoing relationships with families she meets.

Gerson has volunteered at M. D. Anderson for more than 40 years, visiting patients twice a week, rarely missing a volunteer day.

Volunteer Services congratulates Rae Gerson on this award. Her dedication is recognized and appreciated.
