M. D. Anderson has launched a free, online publication, called Focused on Health. This new publication helps people learn how they can reduce their cancer risks.
“Up to two-thirds of all cancers can be prevented,” says the publication’s medical editor Therese B. Bevers, M.D., medical director of M. D. Anderson’s Cancer Prevention Center.
Sign up today! Also, spread the word about this new publication to people in your community who are looking for ways to reduce their cancer risks or add healthier habits into their daily life.
Focused on Health Targets a Diverse Audience
Articles address cancer facts and prevention tips relevant to men and women of all races and ethnicities. Focused on Health readers learn how to:
- Eat a well-balanced diet
- Fit exercise into their daily routine
- Protect themselves from the sun
- Avoid or quit using tobacco
- Get the right cancer screening exams
“If we can encourage more individuals to improve their health habits, we may be able to reduce the number of people who get cancer,” Bevers says.
Individuals can subscribe to Focused on Health. Subscribers will receive a monthly e-mail with links to feature stories, expert advice and multimedia clips.
Focused on Health subscribers can follow the publication via Twitter or sign-up for the RSS feed, to get daily cancer prevention and event news flashes. Subscribers also can become a fan of Focused on Health on Facebook. The publication’s audio content can be downloaded as a podcast through M. D. Anderson’s iTunes University page, accessible from the Focused on Health website.
