Focused on Health - June 2013

These tips are part of the Healthy Bites challenge, developed to help you eat the right foods and lower your cancer risks!

Follow these easy tips to successfully complete the “drink more water” challenge.

woman waterNutrition Tip 1: Check the calories. Real water has zero calories. Always check the packaging label to see if a so-called water beverage has calories.

Nutrition Tip 2: Drink tap. Whenever possible, opt for filtered tap water. It will save you money and reduce your exposure to toxins like Bisphenol-A (BPA), which may get into water sold or stored in plastic bottles.

Nutrition Tip 3: Hydrate for health. Drinking water keeps your muscles hydrated so physical activity is easier and more effective. And, drinking water before and during meals helps you fill up so you eat less.

Nutrition Tip 4: Flavor it up. Find water tasteless and hard to drink? Toss in a little fruit. The fruit will add disease-fighting vitamins and antioxidants while jazzing up your beverage.
