Journaling: cooking with chef Tarsha
Brenda Taylor Cunningham
First she came in and introduced herself and gave us a piece of paper with crayons and said to draw our favorite foods like apples, grapes and ice cream. I was feeling great and liking the class so far. Then, we got to show our foods and said which ones were healthy and which ones were not. We talked and said why they were not healthy. We said because they have fat, sugar or salt.
And, we learned how to find out to know how it’s healthy or not. We learned to read the label on the food. Next, we talked about salads and she said there are many types of salads like fruit salad, tuna salad and chicken salad. She said we were going to make a fruit salad and a tuna salad. I was excited because I love to cook in the kitchen. When we got in there we talked about safety in the kitchen. We said you could start a fire or you could cut yourself with a knife.
