All Aboard the Children’s Art Project Holiday Express
Designers from the Children’s Art Project at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center will be arriving in style to showcase their artwork at the Children’s Art Project Holiday 2008 Kickoff event on Wednesday, October 8. Riding in on the famous Hermann Park train, the designers and their media escorts will arrive at the new M. D. Anderson Train Station in Hermann Park at 10 a.m.
Every year, the Children’s Art Project hosts an event to celebrate the designers and their artwork. Their creations are featured on various products, such as greeting cards, ornaments, ceramics, napkins and jewelry. The artwork is created while the designers are patients at the Children’s Cancer Hospital at M. D. Anderson. Proceeds from the sale of the products return to fund patient care programs at the Children’s Cancer Hospital, such as summer camps, college scholarships, educational field trips, pediatric parties and child life programs.
This year’s kickoff event is a collaboration with the Hermann Park Conservancy and is open to patients, families, friends and supporters of the Children’s Art Project and Children’s Cancer Hospital. The train station is on Golf Course Drive at Caroline, across the street from the Museum of Natural Science. Parking will be available in the Houston Garden Center in Hermann Park.
