Kaplan Lecture to Kick Off Celebrating Improvement

Gary Kaplan, M.D., chairman and CEO of Virginia Mason Hospital, will be the featured speaker for the September 30 Celebrating Improvements at MD Anderson program and poster reception honoring improvement programs at MD Anderson.
Virginia Mason in Seattle is the leader in the United States at applying Toyota’s Lean and Six Sigma concepts in healthcare. Kaplan is also working with Michael Porter, Ph.D., at Harvard in the application of the value proposition in health care.
Celebrating Improvements at MD Anderson, sponsored by the Office of Performance Improvement, is open to Clinical Safety and Effectiveness alumni from all University of Texas System health institutions.
Celebrating Improvements showcases the breadth of quality improvement at MD Anderson to kick off October’s Quality Month. Kaplan’s talk and quality presentation begins at 1 p.m. in Hickey Auditorium, followed by a poster reception from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Rooms 1-8 of the Anderson Conference Center, R11.1100.
