Like Father, Like Son
Annual Report - 1997-1998
Clinical fellowships at M. D. Anderson afford valuable experiences for future cancer caregivers and physicians interested in translational research.
Dr. Charles A. Portera Jr. arrived last summer to start a three-year fellowship in surgical oncology.
He is following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Charles A. Portera, who completed a gynecologic oncology fellowship at M. D. Anderson in 1971 and has been in private practice in that specialty in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The younger physician was delighted to take his father on a recent tour of the cancer center facilities, including a stop at a model of new facilities under construction.
