"Looking back, I thought M. D. Anderson was a place of last resort, so I was a little apprehensive about going there. My wife and I went and walked around before I had my first appointment, and we were surprised at how warm and friendly everyone was . My bladder was removed in July 1990, and a standard ostomy was created so I can eliminate urine in a bag hooked to my abdomen. The nurses were wonderful in helping me prepare to live with an ostomy. A patient who'd had the same procedure also came to visit and assured me I would do fine-and I haven't had any problems. In fact, I feel great."
