Katherine Taylor - Pancreatic Cancer
Joy is an emotion that most people wouldn’t consider when thinking about cancer, but for Katherine Taylor, it helped her survive. Katherine was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1991, but unwavering faith got her through sometimes painful cancer treatments with a smile. "I decided I wasn’t going to go around being moody," she says. "I know some people get upset with God, but I’m glad I know the Lord because He has made a difference in my life."
Although she hadn’t been feeling well for quite some time, Katherine didn’t see the doctor until people noticed that her normally brown eyes looked green and strange. Her doctor, who suspected pancreatic cancer, convinced her to leave Dallas and go to M. D. Anderson that day.
Katherine has since become a cancer missionary, and estimates she’s talked to most everyone in Dallas. "Sometimes, people will scare you, but I tell cancer patients not to be frightened," she says. "Don’t listen to them—listen to your own mind."
