Life After Cancer Care

Thyroid Cancer and Endocrine Neoplasia Survivorship

Thanks to new, improved therapies, an increasing number of people are living beyond cancer and enjoying a full life after treatment. However, we know staying healthy can be a challenge for cancer survivors because intensive treatments create unique and long-lasting health needs. We at M. D. Anderson are committed to addressing these issues to make life after cancer as healthy and productive as possible.

Researchers at the Department of Endocrine Neoplasia and Hormonal Disorders are also looking to the future. Working with survivors of thyroid cancer and other endocrine neoplasias is providing valuable information not only about the physical effects of cancer therapies, but also the psychological issues involved. our researchers are studying data from our cancer survivor survey. More than 10,000 people have filled out the survey, which gave us a better understanding of cancer survivors' health needs. This knowledge can be translated into improved care for cancer patients from the time of diagnosis onward. In addition, the Thyroid Cancer Survivorship Clinic has launched a research project to study the long term effects of thyroid cancer survivors
