Endocrine Neoplasia Survivorship
Thanks to new, improved therapies, an increasing number of people are living beyond cancer and enjoying a full life after treatment. However, we know staying healthy can be a challenge for cancer survivors because intensive treatments create unique and long-lasting health needs. We at MD Anderson Cancer Center are committed to addressing these issues to make life after cancer as healthy and productive as possible.
The department of Endocrine Neoplasia and Hormonal Disorders' Life After Cancer program has carried out extensive research regarding the physical and sociological late effects of cancer and cancer treatments. More than 12,000 cancer survivors have shared their experiences of how cancer may have affected their overall health. Our research is helping us build a better understanding of the unique health needs of cancer survivors. We still have a long way to go and much to learn. In the coming year we will be focusing on the care of thyroid cancer survivors with the goal of providing excellent care while continuing to learn from our patients.
