- Only two people at a time may visit the patient
- No cell phones are allowed in the ICU or ICU waiting area. Cell phones may be used on the level 7 bridge area.
- Please remain in your patient’s room or in the ICU waiting room
- Please do not linger at the nurse’s station
- No live plants or cut flowers are allowed
- You may be asked to leave the ICU at any time so we can provide complex patient care, perform procedures, or deal with emergencies.

ICU Child Visitation Policy
Children under 12 are not allowed to visit the ICU. This is due to high risk of infection to patients and children, as well as the risk of significant emotional stress. Children may use the bridge area between G7 and P7, or visit the Child Visitation Room on the first floor.
H1N1 Flu Alert
M. D. Anderson is adjusting its visitation policy to safeguard patients, employees and visitors from exposure to H1N1 and seasonal flu.
Effective Monday, Oct. 19, the following measures will be put into place until further notice:
- Children ages 12 and under will not be allowed to enter the institution, unless they are patients in active treatment or with appointments. This includes dining facilities, skybridges and common areas.
- The child visitation room will be closed until further notice.
- Signs will be posted at entrances for notifying visitors and family members. People showing signs of an influenza-like illness will not be allowed in the institution.
- Active screening of visitors will take place at the front desk of all clinics, centers, or upon arrival to inpatient areas. Patients showing influenza-like illness will be given masks. Visitors showing influenza-like illness will be asked to leave the institution.
