Employee Cancer Support Group
The Employee Cancer Support Group provides hope and support to employees currently undergoing treatment or who have been treated for cancer and to employees caring for a loved one with cancer. The group was born from the idea of an MD Anderson employee cancer patient who felt there was a need for a forum where other employee cancer patients and survivors could come together to discuss common concerns, fears and experiences.
As the needs of an employee patient, survivor and caregiver differ from those of external patients and caregivers, the Anderson Network has created this program to fulfill those needs.
The group meets quarterly during the lunch hour in alternating locations between the Main Building and the Mays Clinic or Cancer Prevention Building. The meetings provide informative presentations pertinent to the needs of members. The group is facilitated by Employee Assistance Program staff, a nurse counseling specialist and a social worker.
