Clinical Care Center in Sugar Land

The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center- Clinical Care Center in Sugar Land provides cancer care services that complement the broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care services currently offered at St. Luke’s Sugar Land Hospital. The Clinical Care Center is housed on the first and second floors of a medical office building adjacent to the hospital, offering convenience, direct appointment scheduling, and free parking for patients.

Services at Sugar Land include:

  • Laboratory services
  • On-site pharmacy
  • Nutrition education, assessment and counseling
  • Social work counseling, including support groups and community resources

Faculty

Dr. Amit Sarma Amit Sarma, M.D.
Assistant Professor, General Oncology

Dr. Sarma received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He completed his internal medicine training at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He then completed his hematology/medical oncology fellowship training at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and served as a chief fellow. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. Dr. Sarma’s clinical interests include a number of solid and hematologic malignancies. His research interests are in bringing clinical trials to the community and advancing the care of cancer patients.

 

Dr. Janet Tu Janet Tu, M.D.
Assistant Professor, General Oncology

Dr. Tu received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she also completed her training in internal medicine and hematology/medical oncology. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Tu’s clinical interests include both benign and malignant hematology along with a variety of solid tumors, with a particular interest in breast cancer.

 

 

Dr. Isidora Arzu Isidora Arzu, M.D., Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Radiation Oncology

Dr. Arzu was born and raised in Belize and educated in the United States. She received her Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Rice University and her medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed her training in general radiation oncology at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Her first two years in practice were spent specializing in breast cancer and lymphoma. Dr. Arzu has extensive experience using the latest radiation therapy technologies and currently treats all disease sites. Her clinical interests include community education, cancer prevention and screening. She is board certified by the American Board of Radiology.

 

Shalin Shah, M.D.Shalin Shah, M.D.
Assistant Professor, Radiation Oncology

Dr. Shah graduated from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York with a special distinction for research in Radiation Oncology. He completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at Albert Einstein/Montefiore Hospitals, where he served as the Chief Resident during his final year. He then completed his clinical fellowship in Radiation Oncology at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. Prior to practicing in the Sugar Land and Oak Bend centers, he treated patients as part of the multidisciplinary head and neck cancer team at M. D. Anderson, and was listed among America's top oncologists in 2009 by the Consumers' Research Council of America. He is interested in researching how diet, exercise, and other integrative medicine strategies can improve the cure rates and side effects of treatment in cancer patients.
