How many times have you gone on a diet when you need to re-energize your life?  Most of us immediately think about nutrition, but this session will help you consider a diet or “daily journey” for adding joy to your life.  These 10 daily practices can help you ensure your life is more satisfying and fulfilling.

Facing the Mirror with Cancer – Rotary House

Facing the Mirror with Cancer is a guide to using makeup to make a difference. Hosted by Lori Ovitz, a sought-after makeup artist to top models and celebrities for more than 20 years, survivors will learn step-by-step tips and techniques for dealing with appearance issues during cancer treatment and beyond.

Location: Rotary House, Mayfair Room
Time: 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Facing the Mirror with Cancer – Mays Clinic

Facing the Mirror with Cancer is a guide to using makeup to make a difference. Hosted by Lori Ovitz, a sought-after makeup artist to top models and celebrities for over 20 years, survivors will learn step-by-step tips and techniques for dealing with appearance issues during cancer treatment and beyond.

Location: Mays Clinic, Breast Center, Floor 5
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Recapturing Joy and Finding Meaning

This Annual CancerCare Survivorship Series offers survivors, their families and friends practical information about coping with issues that arise after treatment ends. Each pre-recorded podcast will be played during Anderson Network’s PIKNIC (Partners In Knowledge, News In Cancer) educational forum. Afterwards, MD Anderson experts will open the floor for a live Q & A session.

Location: Mays Clinic, Floor 1 (ACB1.2345)  
Time: Noon – 1:15 p.m.

Attitude: The Difference Maker

Attitude gives us an edge and is an additive, not a substitute.  You can’t disconnect attitude from reality and expect success.  This session will facilitate a lively discussion about what attitude can and cannot do for individuals.  It will leave participants with a better understanding on how attitude is their greatest asset and can make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.

Location: Main Building, Floor 2 (near Sundial between Elevators B & C)
Time: 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Change is a major theme riveting through our culture today, but most of us face the challenge of where to start.  This session will introduce participants to the basics of journaling and a way to better understand their own story and discover the power inside.

Look Good, Feel Better

Look Good...Feel Better teaches beauty techniques to cancer patients to help them manage the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Space is limited space. Call the Volunteer Services Beauty Barber Shop at 713-792-6039 to make a reservation.

Facing Body Image Concerns: Learning to Accept the Changes

Cancer and its treatment can result in temporary and sometimes long-lasting changes to your appearance and your body. The purpose of this presentation is to identify common concerns and struggles in dealing with body image changes, and to identify tips and strategies to help you gain greater acceptance of these changes. This presentation is relevant to men and women of all ages and at any stage of cancer treatment or recovery.

Location: Mays Clinic, Floor 1 (ACB2.1041)
Time: 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Gain Wisdom through Journaling

Survivorship Rocks

Survivorship is about living fully each day along the cancer journey. New steps bring change, new goals and new choices about our lives, our families and our hopes. Join us as we explore survivorship not as a goal but as a lifetime adventure. Learn some new ways to cope with cancer and get a refresh on some of the ways that you may have forgotten.
