CAP Scholarship Program
Former Pediatric Patients Eligible for Academic Scholarships
Welcome to the 2013-2014 Children's Art Project Academic Scholarship page. Carefully read and follow all instructions.
MD Anderson Children’s Art Project scholarships are intended to both encourage students who have battled cancer and reward them for their academic and personal accomplishments.

Scholarship Eligibility
Undergraduate Scholarship
- Must be between the ages of 16 and 25.
- Must have been a patient treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center before their 19th birthday or were treated on a pediatric protocol.*
- Must have had a malignant diagnosis or allied disease with known malignant potential.**
- Must have graduated from an accredited high school or have GED.
- Must have been accepted to a college or vocational program with appropriate accreditation.
- Must take a total of 18 semester hours for Spring and Fall semesters not including Summer sessions.
- Must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. Even if a student receives a failing grade, an overall GPA of 2.0 is acceptable.
- Must not have received a Children’s Art Project scholarship for more than a total of eight semesters for four-year universities, and not more than four semesters for junior college or trade school. Semesters may be interrupted.
* Pediatric protocol is one sponsored by a pediatric oncology group
** Allied diseases are those disorders or diseases related to cancer included but not limited to Neurofibromatosis, Ataxia Telangectasia, Meningioma. The scholarship committee will consider each application on a case by case basis.
Graduate Scholarship
- Must be between the ages of 21 and 30.
- Must have been a patient treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center before their 19th birthday or were treated on a pediatric protocol.*
- Must have had a malignant diagnosis or allied disease with known malignant potential.**
- Must have graduated from an accredited college/university.
- Must have been accepted to a graduate/professional program with appropriate regional/professional accreditation.
- Must take at least nine hours per semester Any combination of 18 semester hours for Spring and Fall semesters not including Summer sessions.
- Must maintain at least a C average.
- Must have no Fs.
- Must not have received a Children’s Art Project scholarship for more than eight semesters unless necessary for specific graduate programs.
* Pediatric protocol is one sponsored by a pediatric oncology group

Undergraduate Scholarship for Previous Recipients
- Previous Children's Art Project scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply for the upcoming academic year.
If you fail to complete the correct application in its entirety, the scholarship committee will not consider your application.
