Small Animal Imaging Facility

The Small Animal Imaging Facility (SAIF) is a core M. D. Anderson research resource. The SAIF team provides comprehensive imaging support services for M. D. Anderson cancer investigators, including:

  • Assistance in experimental design
  • Developing specialty equipment and innovative procedures for imaging
  • Preparing animals for studies, inducing and maintaining appropriate anesthesia and immobilization of animals during imaging
  • Harvesting and marking appropriate tissues for correlation of macroscopic, microscopic and imaging characteristics of the tissue or organ
  • Processing and interpreting data for publication or grant preparation

The Small Animal Imaging Facility is supported in part by the Cancer Center Support Grant from the National Cancer Institute (CA16672).
