Pharmacology and Analytical Laboratory Facility

The Pharmacology and Analytical Laboratory Facility provides a broad array of services to investigators interested in identity and quantitation of molecules and issues pertaining to drug development. These are available on a fee-for-service basis and typically involve use of key analytical equipment such as mass spectrometers and HPLC systems. Other services (e.g., protein binding, inhibition of macromolecule synthesis, enzyme assay, drug metabolism studies, specialized cell culture-based experiments, etc.) are available upon request. Specific services available are highlighted in the Services section.

Getting Started

Please contact either of the Core Lab Directors, Dr. Robert Newman at 713-563-7543 or Dr. Tim Madden at 713-563-7538, to arrange a convenient time to discuss your specific pharmacology or analytical requirements.

Education

Every opportunity will be provided to investigators to observe samples preparation and analyses. We welcome questions on operation of the LC and mass spectrometry systems. Upon request, a detailed method description is provided to investigators suitable for inclusion in reports or manuscripts. Through the affiliated Pharmaceutical Development Center Program, educational sessions on drug development and training sessions (e.g., GLP practices) are provided throughout the year.

Individual training on use of specific equipment is available upon request.
