After attending this activity, the target audience of physicians, nurses, physician assistants, dieticians, PhDs and other medical staff should be able to:
- Demonstrate basic principles and strategies that can be used to promote an increase in patient satisfaction with the overall care provided (knowledge, competence, performance, patient outcomes).
- Discuss options for treatment plans with patients that will be more congruent with what the patient wants and increase patient compliance to treatment plan (knowledge, competence, performance, patient outcomes).
- Interpret patient emotions and employ basic principles and strategies to acknowledge these emotions (knowledge, competence, performance).
- Demonstrate appropriate communication skills with colleagues (knowledge, competence, performance).
