Clinical Calculators
Clinical Calculators & Tools
M. D. Anderson breast cancer experts, in collaboration with the Institut Gustave Roussy in France, have developed a computer program that helps both patients and physicians make informed treatment decisions about primary chemotherapy in the treatment of breast cancer.
The calculators were created and validated by Roman Rouzier, M.D., assistant professor of surgerym, and Lajos Pusztai, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of breast medical oncology. Their results were published in the November 2005 Journal of Clinical Oncology. They can be used to predict the probability of complete response to chemotherapy administered before surgery, as well as post-treatment survival:
- Response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (before other cancer treatment)
- Disease-free survival after surgery
W. Fraser Symmans, M.D., professor of pathology, has developed a calculator that is used to measure residual cancer burden for breast cancer patients.
Disclaimer: These calculators are not meant to be a substitute for medical opinions by qualified physicians regarding breast cancer treatment. Results from these calculators should only be used in conjunction with all other clinical information on each case.
