Career Development Program
The MD Anderson Cancer Center Prostate SPORE Career Development Program supports advanced doctoral (Ph.D. or M.D.) candidates (tenure-track assistant professor or oncology fellow) who are committed to a career in academic oncology research in a teaching hospital or university. Candidates must be committed to pursuing translational research in prostate cancer clinically or in the laboratory. Clinicians must have demonstrated clinical excellence during residency.
Please note that this Program is not a training program and does not support pre- or post-doctoral fellows. However, advanced post-doctoral fellows may qualify if they meet specific criteria. Each Career Development award may be a maximum of $25,000 per year for 2 years plus overhead. Under exceptional circumstances, funding may be considered for renewal.
- Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and currently be a tenure-track assistant professor or oncology fellow.
- Program projects must align with the focus of the MD Anderson Cancer Center Prostate SPORE
- Candidates must have an interest in productive prostate cancer research in the context of clinical investigation, laboratory science, or both and exhibit excellent interpersonal leadership and communication skills.
- Program projects must reflect translational research in prostate cancer aimed at generating clinically testable hypotheses for reducing the incidence and mortality of prostate cancer or improving the quality of life for patients with the disease.
