Cancer Care Excellence

Cancer Care Excellence, as a collaborative effort among physicians, nurses, pharmacists, healthcare administrators, centers and institutes, focuses on systematic improvement in patient safety, addressing the provision of high-quality, cost-effective care across the cancer care cycle of prevention, treatment and survivorship.

Multidisciplinary Care Centers

Cancer Care Excellence is focused on achieving the delivery of care across the cancer care cycle that is safe, timely, efficient, effective, equitable and patient-centered. The primary focus area is the delivery and improvement of care in the M. D. Anderson multidisciplinary care centers. Each of these centers carries out clinical trials and expanding programs of translational laboratory research:

Research Component

The Cancer Care Excellence research component targets seven primary areas specific to cancer care:

  • Development of the “Value Proposition” in cancer care
  • Measurement and improvement of outcomes of cancer care
  • Measurement and reduction of costs for cancer care
  • Measurement of the efficacy of quality improvement methods
  • Integration of information technology and knowledge development
  • Education of clinicians across the full cycle of cancer care
  • Development of external cancer care affiliates using quality as a basis
