Hematopathology Observer Training Program

Under the direction of the department chairman, the Hematopathology Observer Training Program allows outside professionals the to opportunity to participate in the clinical and research experience offered by the Hematopathology faculty by observing the fellowship program. Along with the clinical observations, participants are allowed to attend department and division conferences hosted at M. D. Anderson. Observer openings and availability are determined space availability for the time requested. Interested participants should inquire about availability at least six months ahead of the requested time.

The Observer Training Program is open to medical professionals both domestic and international.

Types and Numbers of Appointments

Observers can request appointments depending on availability from one month to one year. Visitors are restricted to one-month appointments.

Stipends and Maintenance

There is no stipend or supplement award for observers. Observers must provide their own accommodations for travel and living expenses.

Applications

Interested candidates who wish to observe for more than 30 days must complete all sections of the Application for Observer Educational Appointment (pdf) available from the Trainee and Alumni Affairs Web site. Observers who stay for less than 30 days are considered visitors and do not require the observer application. All applicants should send a letter of interest by mail or e-mail stating their preferred time frame for visitation, along with a curriculum vitae to the department chairman:

The letter of interest should include all your preferred dates for observation, your current position and title, a copy of your biosketch and your goals in observing the Hematopathology Department.
