Project: What Do Solid State Photomultipliers Have to Offer PET Technology?
I am currently working on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) detector hardware. Our group is exploring the use of Silicon Photomultiplier technologies in the development of PET detector modules. This exciting new technology may allow for depth of interaction information, MRI compatibility, and reduced detector cost. There are many challenges we are working on, including the measurement of DOI in situations where light sharing occurs between pixels and optimization of the crystal array for the best information for image reconstruction.
