Srdan Verstovsek, MD, PhD is Chief, Section for MPNs in the Leukemia Department and director of the Clinical Research Center for MPN. He has been principal investigator of more than 40 clinical trials testing novel therapies for patients with MPN and has published more than 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He is actively involved with several national patient group and serves on the Medical Advisory Boards for the MPN Education Foundation, American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders and The Mastocytosis Society. Dr. Verstovsek is also a member of a number of professional societies and frequently an invited speaker on MPNs nationally and internationally.
The MPN team was formed in 2005. At that time, it included one physician and one research nurse, with only one active MPN-specific clinical protocol. The MPN team has grown exponentially since that time and currently includes more than 8 research nurses, 4 data coordinators and 4 laboratory personnel. The number of clinical protocols for MPD patients has also grown rapidly; more than 30 have been completed and several more are currently underway.
