Educational Programs

The Integrative Medicine Program is committed to providing educational opportunities and training for existing and future health care professionals in the area of integrative medicine by offering an excellent internship and observer program. We invite undergraduate, graduate students, doctoral students and clinicians to apply.

Internship Program

Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students with a concentration and interest in health education, complementary and integrative medicine or community and public health may apply for a full-time internship. You must be actively enrolled at an institution of higher learning in order to be considered for this internship program.

The undergraduate and graduate internships are three-month programs in the area of complementary and integrative medicine. The research internship is a six-month or longer program in the area of natural products, mind-body research and other areas related to integrative medicine. All internships are uncompensated, full-time positions.

Qualified applicants must have an interest in complementary and integrative medicine; be enthusiastic, detail-oriented and thorough; have excellent verbal and written communication skills; and work well independently.
Once an information form and application is approved, an interest survey will be completed to personalize your plan to accommodate your key areas of interest.

Observer Program

Our observer program is designed for national and international healthcare professionals and clinicians interested in learning more about integrative medicine in a comprehensive cancer center. The primary goal of the program is to expose the observer to key aspects of the Integrative Medicine Program at M. D. Anderson.

The observer program is a typically a three- to five-day program. The itinerary is comprised of meetings with program directors and facilitators, program and institutional tours and participation in Place … of wellness classes.

Once an information form and application is approved, you will complete an interest survey so that we can personalize your itinerary to your key areas of interest.
