A NU-LIFE study

African-American Nutrition for Life Project

You may be at risk for breast cancer

Breast cancer occurs more frequently in African-American women who have not experienced menopause than women of any other racial ethnic population. But you may be able to decrease your risk for breast cancer by making simple changes in your eating habits. At the same time, you might help other African-American women decrease their chances of developing breast cancer by participating in a study at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. This study is the African-American Nutrition for Life Project, or A NU-LIFE.

Participants in A NU-LIFE are:

  • African-American women between 25 and 34 years of age
  • Pre-menopausal (having regular monthly period) women
  • Women with no personal history of cancer, diabetes or heart disease

Note: This study is now closed for recruitment. The data is being analyzed and will be available at a later date. We sincerely appreciate those who participated in the study. Thank you for your interest.
